THE RULES

General:

I. Please be respectful to all roleplayers and staff. We are here to have fun!
II. Please make sure to post as well as chat! We understand busy lives, but we are also a roleplay forum first!
III. No sexually explicit links, images, texts, or videos may be posted anywhere on this forum. This could result in a shut down for the entire forum. We also do not want to see any vulgar language! Words such as crap, ass, hell, and damn are permissible.
IV. When you have a question, please ask a staff member via PM. 

Graphics:

I. We require everyone to at least have an avatar and hover image. A signature is not required but is welcome.
II. Please no explicit pictures, including pictures that contain blood, gore, or pornography.

III. Some of the image slots in your profile say 'GIF'. A gif is not required - you may use a still image.

Character Creation: 

I. Upon acceptance, your forum username should be changed to your character's name in all lowercase. Ex: harry james potter 

II. One character per account. This rule also applies to twins.

III. We do not allow characters who are in third year or under. This allows for characters to be closer in age range to one another and participate in a wider variety of plots. 

IV. Your first three characters can be made at any time. From the fourth character on, in order to be accepted your last accepted character must have made twenty in character posts. Staff reserve the right to require more posts to be made if we believe that the previous characters are not up to par with their activity.
V. We allow a maximum of ten characters. No characters will be allowed to be made once you have reached ten. No exceptions.
VI. Face claims must be a celebrity, model etc. No animated faces.
VII. When filling out your profile the 'OCCUPATION' space is for 'Prefect' and 'Quidditch Position' if you are a Student. For an Adult it is the 'Occupation'.

Roleplaying:

I. Please make all of your claims before you begin roleplaying.

II. No godmodding, powerplaying, or metagaming. You control your character and your character alone, and your character does not have all of your knowledge. We take this very seriously and the staff reserves the right to ask you to edit or delete your post if we feel this rule is broken.

III. Knockturn has no word count minimum, but please give your partner enough to respond to. If the staff feel your posts are not substantial we will contact you and attempt to find a solution.
IV. We are a literate site and therefore encourage proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation when roleplaying. Don't be worried if you are not well practiced, as we aim to create a site where writers of all levels can grow their skills.
V. All posts should be in third person and past tense.
VI. We are a PG to PG-13 rated site. The Proboards rules state you must fade to black before things get to heavy whether it be in violence, sex or otherwise. If we believe that your post violates the PG-13 rule, it will be deleted without warning.

VII. If your topic contains potentially sensitive material, such abuse or suicide, please put a trigger warning in the title.
VIII. ACTIVITY CHECKS and ACTIVITY- The first time you miss an activity check your character will be moved to the 'inactive' member group and your claims opened. After the second activity check missed your account will be deleted. For staff, the first activity check missed will result in losing staff status.

Cbox:

I. All the rules above apply to the Cbox as well.

II. Do not advertise in the Cbox, but feel free to mention sites you love and have mini discussions. Just don't put a site URL in there.
III. Please do not discuss sensitive material/argue in the cbox. Staff reserve the right to interfere whenever they see fit.
