personality: At first meeting, many are surprised to learn that Lina is a member of Slytherin House. She is quiet and even a little shy, unassuming in nature and wanting to keep to herself. She attracts people her way and can sometimes come off as unintentionally cruel because she outright ignores or blows people off when she does not feel like being bothered with others. She is easily able to enjoy being alone, finding solace in novels or her studies when she knows she has work to do.
Once you move past the surface and one Lina becomes more comfortable with you, she is fun-loving and can be a little wild. She looks to be innocent, her wide eyes making her look child like. She knows this, loving and hating it at the same time. She hates it because people often call her childish or assumes she is younger than what she is and it angers her because she is anything but childish. She is quick to try and cheer you up or help you forget about something that is hurting you, even if it only for a little while, by making you laugh or trying to make you have fun. She maintains her observant nature, even when she grows more comfortable with you because she wants to learn everything about you that she can. There are very few people who get to truly know her, as she does not trust easily after years of being in a house that rejects her. She can be intense and even a bit manipulative with those who care about her though she may just see it as her asking for favors that she thinks you owe her.
Before the war, she'd always thought of herself as someone who cares about others and would easily come to the aid of someone in trouble. Since the passing of the war, she's realized how selfish and self-preserving she can be. She'd had the opportunity to join either sides of the war before Voldemort began attacking and yet she decided to hide along with other students, choosing herself over some war.
When she's angry or hurt, she can either be incredibly passive aggressive or her anger is explosive, there is no in between. She will cut off even those that she deems her close friends if she feels like you don't appreciate her friendship or the care she has given you or even if you aren't reciprocating the care she gives you.
When she feels appreciated and loved, you have a strong ally and a lifelong friend by your side.
history: Lina was born to Krystina and Tim Brokenridge as the youngest of two children. Her parents hadn't planned for the pregnancy but embraced and even became more excited as the pregnancy progressed. She born a happy child with strong lungs, as her father said multiple times due to the fact that when she cried, she could be heard from every corner of the house. This is what her parents both liked to say was her first showing of magic, though they weren't really sure.
She was a curious child, always off exploring one thing another and questioning her surroundings. She was unafraid to engage with the things that caught her attention to the the point where she got hurt sometimes getting into things she shouldn't. Her parents loved her dearly though to the point of spoiling her. She always got whatever she asked for when they had the means of getting it. She was showered with love and attention and her parents tried their best instilling in her a good moral compass.
When she was getting closer to turning 11, her parents knew that she would be getting her Hogwarts letter soon so they decided to tell her about their time at the school. Her father had been a Hufflepuff while her mother had been in Slytherin. Each parent had been convinced that she'd end up in their respective houses but Lina knew that she was going to be in Slytherin after hearing about the house from her mother. When the time came for her to go to Hogwarts, she was most excited to explore the huge castle.
As always, upon entrance she went through the sorting ceremony and just as expected she was sorted into Slytherin. As soon as they took the hat off of her head she walked over to the Slytherin table amid the cheers. Once she sat down, a few of the younger students began talking to her though she was a little shy at first. They asked her about herself and her family and she talked happily about everything. Then they asked her about her blood status. It was the question that she was hoping to avoid only because her mother had warned her about how some of the Slytherin students wouldn't like her because of her blood. She answered honestly and some of the students stopped talking to her altogether. Others gave her nasty looks while some just went silent, staring at her. It had been one of the moments she'd been disappointed in her house. Later some of the Slytherin did talk to her again and she made some of her first friendships at Hogwarts
.
The Harry Potter Craze did not escape Lina; as a member of Slytherin House it was well known that Harry Potter was one of the most annoying people on Earth. He held undeserved fame and acclaim all because his parents had perished while protecting him from some dark wizard. She was annoyed by it increasingly. She'd also been annoyed at the fact that some of her house mates revered the dark wizard mentioned in the story of "The Great Harry Potter". How could anyone worship a being like that? Someone who hated people like her. Or people like her father. She tried to ignore it but it was everywhere. There was always someone somewhere talking about it, taking one side, determined that Voldemort would rise again or that Harry Potter was the greatest thing since sliced bread. She was annoyed by it all.
It wasn't until the death of Cedric Diggory that Lina realized that something really was going on. She still hated Harry Potter, but she didn't really believe he would make up such a story, that he'd make up seeing Voldemort. Her mother and father had been afraid and had wanted to pull her out of school with some of the other kids; they'd always thought Beauxbaton's was nice and she could easily excel there. Hogwarts was her home though. It was where her friends were. And it had been her fourth year.
When the final battle was upon them she'd hidden along with many of the other Slytherin students, hearing rumors of the upcoming attack. Knowing that there were people she knew on both sides was what made it worse. Students her age and even younger were giving their life for what they believed in and yet she was in hiding. After the dust settled and the death toll was counted, thankfully with Voldemort being among the dead, she was shaken. She listened as names of friends and classmates were called out in the dead or missing column. She cried for her friends and feared for her classmates. They gave students time to grieve and time for them to rebuild Hogwarts.
When her family heard that they were reopening Hogwarts for a new school year, her parents had given her the choice of going back. It wasn't really a choice for her, She knew she had to finish school before she was able to pursue any form of career. So she packed her things, went to Platform 9 3/4 and boarded the train for her final school year.
Now back at Hogwarts, she knows that this year is going to be most difficult. With the war hanging over them, some students will be receiving blame for what happened. Is it even a good idea to be a Slytherin? Will she be welcomed back though she fought for no side? She knows she just can't wait of the year to be over.
