Tristan has a very closed-off personality. He doesn't talk often with strangers, has no interest in developing most friendships. His interests lie with magic and the power it provides and the one person who is more important to him than all else is his sister. It takes like-minded people to form friendships with Tristan and trust takes a great deal of time and effort, on their part. He can put on a happy, cheerful face if he needs to, but Tristan is more often seen as brooding, dark and unapproachable.
However, if you have the good fortune to get through Tristan's hard personality, he is extremely over-protective. He defends those he cares about and keeps a close eye on them (whether they are aware of this or not). To those he views as threats to the people he cares about, he has little/no mercy. It is much safer to know who he cares about and avoid them, so as to avoid his wrath if they become hurt in any way.
He views knowledge as power, so even though he is no longer in school, Tristan is constantly learning and increasing his knowledge in any way he can so that he can be prepared for whatever may happen. It is not uncommon to find him sitting at a pub, reading as he waits for something interesting to happen.
Tristan loves excitement. Conflict, high-energy situations thrill him and if he finds himself in the middle of one, he will participate simply for the personal entertainment. He is a very proficient duelist and has confidence that he can take care of himself in whatever situation he might find himself in, which is why he doesn't back down.
Tristan's one soft spot is his sister. He will do anything and everything she asks of him, whether or not it makes logical sense. If anyone plans on going after her in any way, shape or form, they better find some way to protect themselves against Tristan because he will come after them.
history:
From the time Tristan was a young child, his parents both were busy working at the ministry and he spent most of his time alone at the manor, spending time with the house elves. At a very young age, he was capable of taking care of himself and entertaining himself, which was a good thing considering how often he was alone.
Then, when Tristan was four, his little sister was born. Madeline easily became the light of young Tristan's life. His mother spent the required amount of time at home, caring for her young baby and spending time with her son, before returning to her job at the ministry. Even when she was at home, she was constantly sending owls to the ministry, instructing those beneath her about what they should be doing. When she left, the care of young Madeline was placed on Tristan's shoulders.
He loved his younger sister. For the next seven years, Tristan practically raised her and they were as close as could be. He was extremely protective of her. Any time they left the house (because quite honestly Tristan did whatever he wanted and always brought her along with him), he did his best to keep her by his side. Anyone who wanted to talk to his little sister had to go through him first.
Then Tristan turned eleven. As was expected, he received an invitation to attend Hogwarts. Of course, Tristan always knew this would happen, but he was suddenly concerned for his sister's well-being while he was away. Still, he went.
It was no surprise to Tristan when he was placed into Ravenclaw. He made a few friends at school and thoroughly enjoyed learning all he could about magic, but still felt concern for his sister. He constantly sent her owls throughout his time at school. However, while he was at school Tristan thrived. He was one of the top in his class and had a tendency to focus more on the academic aspect than the social one. He was never one for playing games.
Then it was her turn and Tristan was glad her sister would no longer be alone in their mansion. He watched as she made friends and began to enjoy her time at school, keeping a close eye on the people around her, ready to intervene if any of them stepped out of line. Luckily for them, that wasn't an issue. He and Madeline were still incredibly close. She confided in him about her concerns with muggles. The more Tristan paid attention to them, the more he agreed with his younger sister.
Everything got more intense at school in Tristan's sixth year, when the Potter boy declared that Lord Voldemort arose once more. The next year passed quickly and before Tristan knew it, he was out of school, separated from his sister once more and it was time for him to choose a job. He became a hit wizard for the Ministry, something that didn't require all of his time, but did give him the challenge of duels.
Now, Tristan is working together with his sister to help her protect the wizarding world from the danger than comes from muggles.---
